About this site
Dear Students,
By now you will already know that my name is Gloria Cappelli and that I am one of your techers for this year. If you want to know more about me as a scholar and as a person, you can check my personal pages.
Please, make yourselves comfortable in this blog, because we will be using this a lot!
Remember to check it regularly and often, because I will be posting interesting and useful materials, news, information and links that you need to know.
What is more important, I will ask you to contribute to this blog on a regular basis! That’s right, part of your work will consist in leaving a post at least once a week. Of course… in English!
The “rules” will follow, as soon as we get to know each other and agree on our goals for this year.
I will also leave a post soon with the instructions on how to register to the website (you need to have your own account to leave comments and I will need your email address to grant you access to the site).
I have posted the full programs for the courses and the details of the books that you are required to buy. We will be using them together in class.
This page will remain as a presentation for myself and this blog, which I have named after a quote by Tolkien, the author of “The Lord of the Rings”, as you certainly know.
Little by little, one travels far.
It seemed to me that it was perfect for our blog, as learning a language and the cultural values that come with it is certainly a journey and one that requires time, dedication and a lot of hard work. No need to say, though, that being proficient in English is a mandatory requirement for all professionals in the “tourism world”.
My New Academic Year’s resolution is to try and make this course useful and interesting (please forgive me if I am not able to succeed all the time!). And my wish for you is that you can make the most out of the time we will spend together in class…
…And of course, that what you learn will take you as far as you want to get.
